Located just off junction 39 of the M6 & on the edge of the beautiful Lake District Marsel's is situated on the old A6 between Kendal and Penrith on the Main street in Shap.

Birchwood house was built around 1880 and owned by Richard Greenwood a cobbler who got the Birchwood for the clogg soles from Naddle Forest.

Formerly a drapers then a butchers for many a year, Mark & Selina acquired the property in 2019 and renovated it themselves into a sandwich bar, cafe in the village.
